“Lock yourself inside your house or go out and you’ll die.”

President Rodrigo Duterte made this strong statement against drug addicts during the San Beda Law School Homecoming held on Saturday at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City where he said that mandate to kill drug addicts would soon be ordered.

This stern warning came following a report that illegal drugs industry is now worth P216 billion a year from a computation of P200/day being spent by three million addicts in the country.

“Where are they getting money to sustain their vices? Kill? Hold-up? Robbery? It may have stop now but that’s only for the moment. Takot na kasi. How do we make it permanent to stop it?”, President Duterte expounded, as disclosed in a journal report.

“Can we legislate in Congress? Can we legislate fear? Can we legislate the law? Pwede ba iyong tatapikin mo lang sila at sasabihin na huminto ka na dahil kawawa na ang mga Pilipino?” he added

The President said he will be submitting a report on drug war to the National Security Council, Speaker of the House, and Senate President as he asked (them) to help him formulate an action plan to get rid of drug mess in the next generations.

“Illegal drugs are now the most serious problem in the country, more than a problem on terrorism because it would leave in its wake so many insane persons,” President Duterte pointed out. “Let us keep the next generation from this problem.”

In his speech, he also mentioned that his administration, with the help of concerned law enforcement agencies, has already finished the validation of the long list of politicians involved in illegal drugs which include governors, mayors, barangay captains, policemen and members of the judiciary.

“Before I became a president, I made a promise that I will eradicate illegal drugs for several months and I am confident that I could make it happen,” Duterte said.

“But to my horror, after the so many names that I mentioned, the final report of the PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) collated from the NBI, the national intelligence community at binigyan ako ng kopya na napakakapal, agad ko tinawagan ang aking mga Cabinete at sinabi sa kanila na hindi ko kaya ito,” he said.

“I told my Cabinet that I will be running out of time and bullets because of this report, even if assuming na sinasabi nila ko na pinapatay ko sila,” Duterte said.
